Experience Calabria
"There is nothing better to appreciate a territory and its history than to immerse yourself in a genuine hands-on experience. You can choose from different types of courses, from frame weaving to manual looms, to tailoring and eco-printing."
'Our goal is to pass down our story and let you discover and experience, through training paths, our traditions to learn to love the truest Calabria.'
"A people who ignore their own past will never know anything about their present."
"You can't know where you're going if you don't know where you come from."
"Knowing the past helps us understand the present and build the future."

The ORIGINI project laboratory was inaugurated on May 16, 2024, the day of the eighth anniversary of the opening of the Malìa Lab atelier.
The idea of creating a laboratory that combines production and training has been with us for years and is connected to our dream of recreating a textile supply chain in the area based on the production and processing of the native Ginestra yarn.
The same emotions and the ideas of sustainability and ethics that drove us to return to Calabria and create our sustainable brand have guided us on this journey.
Our goal is to enhance and pass down the textile history of our territory and to recreate a production chain.

The frame will be used with two meanings, to produce and
to shape. A tool of our history, it becomes a spokesperson for a change in behavior and vision as a means to reconnect people with the genuine part of the fashion world.
"Rediscovering fabrics and textile know-how, promoting a sustainable alternative to fast fashion, to educate the consumer, providing them with both a good, a philosophy, and finally a tool for social interaction."
The frame is a tool that does not discriminate; from the young to the older adults, everyone can approach its use without limitations, and as an artistic manual tool, it also has a strong spiritual and moral significance.

The laboratory as a social and sharing place is open to anyone who wants to try their hand, even just for a brief experience, and immerse themselves in our traditions.
The frame is definitely the protagonist of the project, but not only that. Our intention is to address other themes to ensure a broader educational offer and create a multidisciplinary experience suitable for all ages.
In fact, it is our intention to conduct supplementary courses that will cover tailoring, pattern making, ecoprinting, and other artisanal techniques related to the world of fashion.
Many of these courses will also be available online, with the possibility of personalized consultations by appointment.

Calabria has an ancient history and the textile sector has always been a driving force since the times of Magna Graecia.
Silk, Hemp, Wool and above all Broom were common fabrics, high-quality natural fibers at "Km 0", made and packaged locally, to be then processed with manual looms.
"It is not uncommon even today to have a grandmother who worked on a loom or extracted the natural fibers needed for the loom."
The problem, however, is right here; from our grandparents, that healthy way of producing and valuing materials has been lost, diluting through the subsequent generations until it has become more of a memory than a value.
