The BEGINNER course is designed for participants aged 14 and up. No prior experience with the frame is necessary, just bring your manual skills and arm yourself with patience.

The duration is about 7/8 h, divided over two days, in the afternoon, to be agreed upon based on the availability of spots with the other participants.

You will work on the standard Calabrian frame, learn the movements, and we will guide you in creating a basic shawl or alternatively a rug. We will provide you with all the necessary materials, which you will naturally be able to take home at the end of the course.

Number of participants per session: from 1 to 2 max

If you need to stay overnight, we can offer you one of our affiliated solutions.

Requirements for the course

The BEGINNER course is aimed at anyone who wants to approach hand weaving, aged 14 and up, without special requirements.Just bring your creativity, your manual skills and a little patience and you will have a great time.

All materials are provided directly on site (they are included in the cost of the course) and the artifact that you will be able to create with the support of our tutor is yours to take home as a souvenir.

The main stages of the course

Day 1

INTRODUCTION:
- Operation of the hand loom and design of the warp
- Brief notions about yarns.

WARPING

FRAME ASSEMBLY

WEAVING:
- Let's learn the basic rules of hand weaving
- Creation of woven samples with different yarns
- Start weaving scarf or carpet

Day 2

WEAVING:
- We continue weaving the scarf or carpet according to your choice

Day 3

FINAL STAGE:
- Completion of work
- Dismantling the artifact from the frame
- Finishes
